Lluís Hortalà, at the Fundació Vila Casas (Barcelona)

The works Topología de la visión and Ante la Ley (Spanish Room. “Before the Law”), belonging to the Banco Sabadell Art Collection, form part of the exhibition “Lluís Hortalà – Poner el dedo en el ojo (A poke in the eye)”, curated by Teresa Grandas and organised by Fundació Vila Casas at the Espais Volart, Barcelona.

Poner el dedo en el ojo is a project that presents work by Lluís Hortalà (born Olot, 1959), which challenges so-called contemporaneity with resources from the pictorial tradition, based on vision as a mechanism for approaching the world. The body of work operates conceptually, and with a certain irony, reflecting on the structures that sustain thought and power. His work plays with appearance, acceptance of deception and the replication of reality, the techniques used in art to produce and reproduce images, mirage and the limits of trompe l’œil, optical illusion and imitation, the art of artifice.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 19 February to 13 July 2025 at the Espais Volart in Barcelona.
