Contemporary photography has, from the outset, occupied a prominent place in the Banco Sabadell Collection. With major artists such as Chema Madoz, Joan Fontcuberta, Mayte Vieta, Bleda and Rosa, and Eulalia Valldosera, amongst others, we are undoubtedly looking at one of the most outstanding photography collections on the national scene.
The selection of works that make up the exhibition "Alegorías de lo cotidiano" offers a welcoming and intimate space where the viewer engages with the different places, stories and situations presented by the artists. Spanning concepts ranging from the conceptual to the object-based, a poetic imaginary is constructed in which the photographic image creates a distancing effect and a dissolution of everyday spaces and objects.
In their allegorical function, the images presented advocate a different, divergent approach, rooted in the creative process and applicable to the unfolding of an ordinary event. In this way, the magic of everyday life and its narrative dynamics are transformed and function as symbols within the visual composition.
