In the exhibition, twelve perspectives are captured on paper through twenty-four photographs, bearing witness both to the evocative power of the Prado Museum and to the creative ability of the artists involved in the project. Spanning three different generations and with very diverse approaches to understanding and using photography, José Manuel Ballester, Bleda and Rosa, Javier Campano, Joan Fontcuberta, Alberto García-Alix, Pierre Gonnord, Chema Madoz, Cristina de Middel, Isabel Muñoz, Aitor Ortiz, Pilar Pequeño, and Javier Vallhonrat have drawn inspiration from the works housed in the museum, but also by the aura that surrounds them, the building that houses them, and those who view them.
The publication of the photographs, which forms part of the Banco Sabadell Art Collection, was produced by the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation as part of the museum’s bicentennial celebration.
The exhibition also features three videos documenting the creative process of the twelve artists, including their comments on the works they created. The videos were produced and provided by the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation.
