“Twelve photographers at the Museo del Prado”, in the SabadellHerrero exhibition hall in Oviedo

The Art Collection exhibit “Twelve photographers at the Museo del Prado. Banco Sabadell Art Collection” will be open to visitors at the SabadellHerrero exhibition hall in Oviedo from 28 February to 12 May 2024.

The exhibit consists of twenty-four photographs capturing twelve visual embodiments that evince both the evocative power of the Museo del Prado and the creative abilities of the project’s artists. Belonging to three different generations with very different ways of understanding and using photography, José Manuel Ballester, Bleda y Rosa, Javier Campano, Joan Fontcuberta, Alberto García-Alix, Pierre Gonnord, Chema Madoz, Cristina de Middel, Isabel Muñoz, Aitor Ortiz, Pilar Pequeño and Javier Vallhonrat have been inspired by the Museum’s treasured works of art and by the aura that envelops them, by the building in which they are held and by those that view them.

The photographs, which form part of the Banco Sabadell Art Collection, were edited by the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado foundation as part of the Museum’s bicentenary celebrations.

The exhibit also features three videos of the process followed by the twelve artists, with their comments about their work. The videos were produced and loaned by the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado.
