Mar Arza explores the collection of works on paper from the Banco Sabadell Art Collection. As a result of this research, she presents an exhibition project in which the poetics of a verse—in apparent contradiction—draws us closer to the mystery of creation. This extensive selection of works on paper invites us not only to touch upon distant realms but even to dare to capture them in a fleeting moment of lucidity.
... Paper has been and continues to be an unparalleled material as both a medium and a substance for works of art. It imparts a tactile quality that draws the eye to the surface of a porous skin—one that breathes and makes the texture of its fibers, and everything deposited upon it, vibrate. Yet at the same time, we might say that it transcends the confines of materiality to harbor a projection, an illusion, or a premonition. In other words, it nestles a sense of distance within the immediacy of its very core. The paper support acts as a sieve that filters and accommodates this distance, this filigree of the path undertaken. Thus, the immediacy of touch and the distance of a vision beyond its surface coexist on the paper.
